With reference to the Freudian concept of Hilflosigkeit, the author connects studies of the evolution of the newborn’s psychic life with the evolution of psychic life in adolescence. Taking into consideration the new sensory experience of the pubertaire, the author will use as an example the case of an adolescent with borderline functioning.

Using three cases drawn from research on the subjectivation of adolescent mothers in Martinique, this article analyses how motherhood can help raise awareness about possible ways out of the relation of control. The participants’trajectories have to do with boundaries and with affective deficiencies, reminding us of the importance of intersubjective spaces in providing support, encouraging speech, and helping bring about the process of re-empowerment that leads to subjectivation.

In A Girl’s Story, A. Ernaux ends the fragmented story of her adolescence with the revelation that she was assaulted the first time she had sex. This event, the repetition and outcome of childhood traumas whose sexual origin is diluted by the author in the socius, triggers a phenomenon of passionate control laden with symptoms. Subjectivation through literary sublimation is both the subject matter and matrix of this work, and transforming the control into a cultural object that can be shared.

À partir de trois cas issus d’une recherche portant sur la subjectivation de mères adolescentes en Martinique, cet article analyse comment la maternité contribue à une prise de conscience pour penser la sortie de la relation d’emprise. Les trajectoires des participantes renvoient aux limites et aux carences affectives, rappelant l’importance d’espaces d’intersubjectivité pour étayer, libérer la parole et accompagner le processus de reprise de pouvoir menant à la subjectivation.

Cet événement, répétition et aboutissement des traumas de l’enfance dont l’origine sexuelle est diluée par l’autrice dans le socius, déclenche un phénomène d’emprise passionnelle lourd de symptômes. La subjectivation par sublimation littéraire est à la fois matière et matrice de l’œuvre, et transforme l’emprise en objet culturel partageable.

The aim of this article is to understand how, from a psychoanalytical perspective, the group plays a central role in the journey of adolescence. It will sustain the process of dis-investing childhood family relations that seem incestuous, and allow one to turn towards extra-familial object choices. The group and the often-huge investment of it in adolescence ultimately helps one to become oneself and fosters the work of subjectivation.
